The 3-pad is a little lighter, while the 4 pad will have more surface area. They both have the same respective clamping force and torque capacity. Both are sprung discs. The 3-pad disc will have a harsher engagement and is known to \"shudder.\" They both will be hard to slip as they are very on\/off when it comes to engagement.
