It has been a delight to find that this year’s edition has much improved since last year. Organisation of the participants map was much better and transition from one booth to another was always smooth.

Amongst my favorites, I would estimate the Buggati Type 57S as the best of show despite Hispano-Suiza Club large participation with best-of-breed cars. Club Lotus France also exhibited 3 very respectable and very authentic cars: the Lotus Seven “Coupe des Provinces” of Ecurie du Lyonnais, an enjoyable Lotus 51 Formula Ford and the exceptional Lotus XI fitted with a Coventry Climax engine.

Even more racy, Porsche booth displayed a 908/3 Spyder, a 910 and the famous and impressive 917.

As I had to switch to a new web hosting service, I have started slight but fruitful modifications to enhance this site’s usability. Some links in the posts may not still work, I am updating the site piece by piece.

However, you may already have a look here where I have posted my latest pictures from the Montagnole Historic Hillclimb 2008: http://www.speed-addicts.com/gallery/montagnole-2008/

I have also integrated a very efficient slideshow module that behaves like this: http://www.speed-addicts.com/gallery/montagnole-2008/auto/

The look’n feel is not yet there, but it will improve quickly, those modules -SimpleViewer and AutoViewer- are very easy to configure !

Such a tremendous event hosted on Le Mans race track !

Alfa Romeo 33/3 ready for night fall exercise.

Highly respectable cars loaded with historical value and driven to their best were exhibiting at one of those most expected and finest revivals held in continental Europe. From the Talbot domination in the first (oldest) category to the early Turbo prototype cars, one could enjoy more than half a century of race car evolutions: disk brakes, high-rev engines, aerodynamics, ground effects and so on.

Special notes go to the wonderful Lotus XV #45 for its incredible pressure on the Ferrari’s, Porsche 917 #19 for its impressive speed, Matra 670 #15 for the music of that fantastic V12, Talbot Lago T26GS #65 because it has been driven like hell (check out on my pictures), the Howmett TX #22 because it is quite unique … I am sure to forget very good cars there and if all deserved to be illustrated, I have just kept my best pictures of the week end, hoping you’ll enjoy some of these.

Cheers !

That’s something extremely difficult to find your 10 best pictures ever !

First, because of the amount of pictures I have taken; about 10,000 with car racing events mostly ! Once that massive amount of pictures sorted, you have to set up the rules: will you choose to select the pictures you like (because of the difficulty to take that shoot, it’s a car you like …), or it might be easier to select pictures that will touch people.

I’ll try to keep in between ;)

Here we go !

I am late !

But I could get some fine pictures despite the heavy snow falls that monday where, finally, they could enjoy white roads and large drifts.

Enjoy ;)

Desperately wet, that Monte’ edition hasn’t been very spicy … Sebastien WRC master controlled the game almost from the start (Sani Sordo won the first stage) but demonstrated what’s a clean style to his supporters.

I had been there one month before the rally to find the best spots and so my Mini Cooper could enjoy those roads :) The Mini is by the way perfect in every aspects to go to a rally: it can park (almost) anywhere, people enjoy seeing it and you can drive faster than most of today’s saloon cars and pass them even on small roads. I know I am a bad boy, but hell that’s the way they have to go :P
OK, the pictures then !

Trophée Andros is an connoisseur-event :) Not really the best known competition or the most demanding one, but it’s a big show with serious battles (maybe too short, under 10mns per race) and drifts, spins and harmless crashes in snow walls.

Here are a few shots I manage to take, I am very happy with those as they are the most difficult to catch due to low light, speed and distance.

Balas gives the maximum !

A bit disappointed with that one … A large part of the shops present are just leading business here and hurt the work of real passionates.

However, there are still a lot of things to enjoy, Lancia booth with a wonderful D25 and Fiat 500 celebrating its 50th birthday most noticeable amongst all.

Bikes may be photogenic also !

Yesterday, we enjoyed a big motor racing event: this classics hillclimb involves small GTIs and Ferrari 250GT as well ! Spectators and neighborhood are enjoying equally the 100 teams that have a single goal: having and providing fun.

Scheduled for the 28 and 29 of June, 2008, a nice event is to take place on the Monza circuit: a Le Mans-like endurance race with Karts. A 5.3 kms long modified track will provide, I am sure, a lot of pleasure to the members of the lucky 60 teams.

2007 kart endurance race edition.
